Revealed for the first time here on SYT is CCN Yachting and the Turkish shipyard, AES Yacht’s, custom 66 metre superyacht currently under construction. She is designed by Hot Lab Yacht & Design with naval architecture by Endaze Marine Engineering, exterior lines by Michele Dragoni and interiors in collaboration with Enrico Lumini.
To adhere to the experienced client’s requirements for generous living spaces and apartment-styled areas, the yacht spans across five decks with a beam of 12 metres resulting in an enormous total gross tonnage of around 1,800 GT. Speaking of the brief from the client, Romano comments: “The client wanted to have a spacious yacht for himself and his family, with big volumes. The client is also passionate about architecture, so if you see the GA, every line is squared, rational, minimalistic. Everything works in a perfect symmetry.”
“A lot of attention has been paid to these things, as well as the internal height, which is 2.7 metres in three of the decks,” he continues, “so the volumes are impressive. Another characteristic of the vessel is that it has a very masculine style. Straight edges, with no curves in the project, and it gives you the sensation of power on the water.”
Twelve guests are accommodated for in a large owner’s suite and five guest cabins. Interiors are kept simple and minimalistic in design with emphasis on creating a tranquil environment through the use of natural materials and introducing natural light into each living space.
The owner’s suite and lounge is located on the upper deck and includes amenities such as two large walk-in wardrobes, two en suite bathrooms, a gym and massage room. The deck is wrapped in full height windows to create that loft-style apartment feel mentioned in the initial brief, Romano says.
Another defining characteristic of the vessel and a specific reflection of her owner’s desires is the amount of privacy offered. Romano explains more: “The owner’s care a lot about privacy, so you can land the helicopter on the front of the bow, and then have direct access to the owner’s cabin. On the main entrance of the main deck, from the side you can go into the office of the owner’s assistant, and from there a staircase brings you directly to the owner’s office. So when the owner just wants to have a business meeting – because he will use the yacht a lot in the summer and during the year – he can have the meeting with the maximum level of privacy without the guest seeing the rest of the boat. To achieve the level of privacy required, we spent a lot of time studying the staircase system.”
On the main and lower decks are the remaining five guest staterooms with three VIP cabins on main deck and a further two cabins below deck. Towards the aft of the yacht, two large tenders are stowed in the lower deck garage with a beach club at the transom area. Above on main deck aft is a pool and bar area where guests can relax.
She is scheduled to be completed by summer 2017, and upon completion will be a real breakthrough project for the Hot Lab team. Romano agrees, commenting: “We are so proud. I like a lot this bulky and muscly vessel. It’s much more difficult to design a yacht like this than a fast planing boat… It makes a lot of difference. The aim of the yard is to bring the yacht to the Monaco Yacht Show in 2017. That is the aim.”
